The historic house, a beautifully preserved 18th-century manor, stands proudly amidst the greenery, its classic architecture evoking a sense of timeless Virginian elegance. Stepping inside, you are welcomed by the inviting warmth of an incredibly knowledgeable team who can walk you through a guided tasting while sharing some of the house’s fascinating history. And, don’t forget to check out the manor’s stone cellar downstairs, where rustic charm meets modern comforts.
The Winery at La Grange is renowned for producing some of the best wines in the area, featuring an exquisite selection of blends crafted from grapes grown in Virginia and Washington. As you embark on a tasting journey, you’ll discover the nuanced flavors and distinctive characteristics that define their wines. My husband and I are particularly fond of their the robust reds, rich with the essence of dark fruits and subtle spices. But, whether you’re sipping a smooth Meritage or a vibrant Viognier, the exceptional quality of La Grange’s wines, combined with the romantic ambiance of the vineyard, creates an unforgettable experience.
What We Sipped On
During our latest visit, we sipped on the 2023 Virginia Rosé — a lovely, refreshing, and dry rosé wine perfect for a hot, summer day in the countryside. We were thrilled that King Street Oyster Bar was serving fresh, local seafood during our most recent visit, though we have enjoyed every food truck we’ve purchased from at the winery. We paired our rosé with delightful bites, including raw and grills oysters and a delicious lobster roll, from King Street Oyster Bar.
Pet Policy & Events
We kept our pups at home during this last visit, but we love how dog friendly The Winery at La Grange is! Throughout the warmer months, the winery hosts an event called K9s in the Vines which features adoptable dogs, a fun, dog-friendly walk through the vines, and many local pet-focused businesses. In addition to their dog-focused events, the winery is constantly hosting fun events including line dancing, curated dinners, and 5k runs.
